The first circuit is ambient — a cove, a pair of wall washers, anything that puts light on a surface rather than into your eyes. The second is task: the reading lamp, the under-shelf strip, the pendant over the table. The third is accent, and it is the one most often skipped.
Getting the colour temperature right
Keep everything on one temperature. Mixing 2700K and 4000K in a room under forty square metres is immediately obvious and impossible to unsee.
